Interview with the graduating editor of the publishing house
Anna, how did you get to know the publishing house?
The first acquaintance was Book Arsenal two years ago. I saw the book "What is a vacation?". And then she glanced at "Gallery of senses" and froze ...? I looked through all the books!!! I was fascinated by what I was holding in my hands. Paper, illustrations, the style, the special attitude felt from the girls on the stand. Then, in the 6th year of university, it was necessary do practice and choose the same publishing house. I called "Nebo" and they took me). I started working as an smm, for that At the moment, they could not hire me as an editor due to lack of experience, but after two months, they started working for me give editing. I was in practice for a month and a half, then - smm, editor, and ... Graduation editor.
More responsibility?
Yes! I tremble for every book). I stay awake at night, rereading, preparing for printing... All this is very important...
What are the main goals / objectives?
Recently, I have been preparing our publications for printing. Probably, it is difficult to immediately imagine how many stages there are the book passes to end up in the hands of the buyer. All this is born from an idea and discussion in the team, from unusual happiness in the eyes and desire-desire-desire to publish this book - before the process of going to the printer. This is if short. It is a very responsible process, behind which a whole team of people stands (often sleepless nights), but it is crazy captures
What is the most pleasant?
Read all books first. You communicate with the translator and illustrators, they are worried too! That's cool.
Are you fulfilling your personal dreams/desires in this role? If so, which ones?
I have been in love with books since childhood. Grandma, thank you for this! I am glad that I am one of the first to be able to read manuscripts and books, which has yet to appear. To be fully involved in the book process. And when I first visited the printing house...You winged, when you see how much work was put into the book and here it is, soon you will have it in your hands, and thousands readers... I can't describe it in words. Those emotions with which we prepared the book, read it in the original or in the finished version translations, admired the illustrations and prepared them for typesetting. The way she corrected typos or stupid mistakes... Again read And then, when you come to an event or an exhibition, tell people about the book, share your emotions and a person buys it She trusts. These feelings are beautiful. This is what makes me an editor and a big fan of books. AND when people gush about how, "My God, my child loves your book!" And I'm melting. Or "I'm reading to her baby several times a day. He keeps asking to read about whales! And when I read it for the first time, I cried." And I understand that all these feelings are mutual, and I cried too when I read about the whale and Noah. I don't even know why I cried. But this is just a very touching story...
Which of the books published by the publishing house is your favorite? And why?
Our novelty "Mama". I am not a mother). Mothers who read this book will feel an incredible explosion of emotions). But when I read - I cried too. This is such a gentle, such a warm book... I feel very warm about the book "My Friend the Whale". I love Benji Davis! The sea, the boy Noah in this funny hat and yellow raincoat, his dad is a fisherman and six cats And how Benji Davis portrayed them. Each illustration radiates the warmth and tenderness of parental love. What a story can melt the most hardened heart. And with what courage and love Noah treats his new whale friend! For some reason this is the book I like to reread from time to time and always tell my friends about it. And I am very glad that we publish his history. Always looking forward to every new item!?
