Interview with the designer of the publishing house
Meet Tonya Mykolenko!
Is there a book you are most proud of?
I would say that it is "The Mystery of Mrs. Lubido's Tummy". This is one of my first published books, for which I had to handwrite almost every page.
What do you like most about your job?
I love when everything comes together! When you receive the text and illustrations separately, plan the number of pages, solve all the problems and invest in what you have planned, it is also nice to be one of the first to read the book.
Is everything going so perfectly for you at the publishing house?
Of course not. For example, Knyzhkov Arsenal had to write 12 books in a month in order to do everything in time. But there was still a problem!
Tell me more about the difficulties at work?
The most difficult was probably my first book in the publishing house - "The Matilda Effect". When transferring text to the program for editing, I managed to lose half of the punctuation marks! I saw that they were missing, but I thought it was something the translators and editors overlooked something. And when I finally completed everything, I saw that the first file contained those signs! I had to redo all the work immediately... It was difficult to make the second part of the series "The Secret of Sally Lockhart". I somehow involuntarily got involved and started reading it while it was being typed. And I come to a vaguely sad moment, and the majority I haven't read it from the editors yet, I couldn't even share it with anyone, because there are spoilers! And I had to make it in two options! And every time, during every editorial, I sat in tears...
What do you miss at work?
I would also like to illustrate! But there is a time for everything, this is also in our plans. :)
Describe your work in three words?
"Eat, pray, craft!"
